I think the WWE should forget about NXT, Tough Enough, and Superstars. Those shows are pointless. They use the opening match losers that nobody wants to see. Just like Heat, Velocity, and every other extra show they tried to add in just didn't work. Heat was a good idea because it came on TV right before a PPV would start so it hooked the audience and made them want to order the PPV. But all these reality shows and rookie contests just don't seem to interest me. And to be honest, Smackdown has fallen apart. It has always been the B squad and everyone knew it, but now its just as bad as those other shows I mentioned. They waste half the show with talking and worse, clips of old episodes to fill in the time. The actual matches are things like you would see on Sunday Night Heat back in the day. I remember when Smackdown was the same as Raw and Stone Cold, The Rock, Triple H, they would all wrestle on both shows. Then they made the two separate brands which I liked and Smackdown was actually the dominate brand I thought. That is whey Smackdown had Brock Lesnar fighting Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship. Then Brock left and they gave the belt to JBL for a full year and I think that killed off the Smackdown audience. They tried to bring it back with John Cena, but as soon as he caught on they moved him to Raw and just abandoned Smackdown. Now the show is so weak they gave up on the idea of two separate brands because they can't even run one successful show. Raw has even become a joke.
I think what they need to do is pool everything they have, wrestlers, writers, storylines, matches, everything and try to make two successful shows. Bring back the draft, and make two believable General Managers like they used to have. Then divide the talent evenly and bring in real talent worth seeing. However, this might sound like a crazy idea but I think given the lame reputation Smackdown has developed and the loss in interest something new would be more exciting. I say cancel NXT, Tough Enough, Superstars, and Smackdown... and bring back Saturday Night's Main Event!
The name alone will draw a crowd because older wrestling fans grew up watching that show. Then get rid of guys like Teddy Long and John Laurinaitis or that stupid anonymous Raw General Manager, and bring in real credible names to run the shows. Eric Bischoff, Paul Heyman, Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, and obviously Triple H. For starters I would have Triple H get his job back from Laurinaitis. I would have Triple H announce that since Laurinaitis was the one behind costing him his job he was fired. Then I would have him finally reveal that Micheal Cole was the anonymous GM and say that he was an asshole on commentary, a horrible GM, and even say he was working with Laurinaitis so then I would fire him too. Then I would go over to Smackdown, call out Teddy Long and tell him that he has run Smackdown into the ground and that the show was officially cancelled because of him and he was fired!
The audience would go crazy, wrestling fans would be shocked. Everyone would tune in to see Raw the following Monday to find out what was going to happen next since that was how Smackdown had ended. When they tuned in to Raw I would have Triple H announce that all other WWE programming had been cancelled along with Smackdown because they were all failing. All WWE talent would be moving to Raw and only the best would be kept. It would be like the WWE/WCW merger all over again.
Then I would have Vince come out the following week and announce that he was not happy with Triple H's decisions and that he wanted to change some things. Triple H would laugh and say that he has full control over Raw and he cancelled all of Vince's other shows. Vince would say that's fine, but there is one other show he forgot about. Then he would announce that he was starting a separate program on Saturday nights, and everyone would know what show he meant right away. Triple H would be furious, and he would question Vince and say he doesn't have the authority or the ability to run a show against him. That is when Vince would laugh and say no he doesn't but that is why he has found the perfect person to do it. At this point anyone could walk out, any one of the people I mentioned before. But if I had my choice, Shane's music would hit and the crowd would explode. Shane would come out, furious that his father's company had been handed over to his brother-in-law and say that he was going to fight him for control of the WWE.
