Hamilton Ontario Canada. In 1988. First Royal Rumble ever. Only 20 wrestlers instead of the usual 30. The entrant was Bret Hart who lasted longer than anyone else. Jake The Snake Roberts and Hacksaw Jim Duggan were by far the most popular stars in the Rumble. The crowd was chanting DDT and HOOO over and over during the match.
The final 4 were Don Muraco, One Man Gang, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and Dino Bravo. Muraco was eliminated, then Bravo. It all came down to Duggan and the One Man Gang.Gang charged across the ring at Duggan who ducked and pulled down the top rope and Gang fell to the floor. The winner of the very first Royal Rumble was Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
