Royal Rumble 1989

Warrior
Rick Rude
The second Royal Rumble took place in 1989 in Texas. The previous winner, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, was not in the Rumble match. Instead he was in the opening 6-man tag match, teaming with the Hard Foundation. The WWE really needs to bring back the King role, not just the King Of The Ring, but having the King with a crown and carried to the ring, it was impressive. King Haku defeated former King Harley Race. One of the real memorable moments was the pose-down between two rookies, Ravishing Rick Rude and The Ultimate Warrior. Of course the Warrior won, but afterwards he was attacked by Rude.

Mega-Powers
Demolition
The Rumble match was the full 30 wrestlers unlike the 20 from the previous year. However, I think it should have ended about 10 wrestlers soon at the appropriate ending when Hulk Hogan cleared the ring. Hogan eliminated both members of the Brainbusters at once, then eliminated the Warlord in the infamous 2 seconds. That only left Macho Man Randy Savage and Bad News Brown. Brown had Savage bent over the ropes, and Hogan came up behind and flipped both men over the top rope. Savage was outraged and came back in the ring after Hogan. This was the beginning of the feud that split up the Mega-Powers. Miss Elizabeth had to run to the ring and keep them apart. Finally Savage came to his senses and made peace with Hogan and everyone cheered. However, that wasn't the end of the show.

Big John Studd
More wrestlers continued to come out. Hogan was eliminated by the Big Boss Man and Akeem The African Dream. The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase bought the number 30 so he would be the last man to enter the Rumble. The first two were Ax and Smash of Demolition who had to wrestle each other. Andre The Giant was third. Andre was the favourite to win, but when Jake The Snake Roberts threw his snake Damion into the ring Andre eliminated himself just to get away.  In the end it came down the The Million Dollar Man and Big John Studd, and after a few suplexes, Studd threw DiBiase over the top rope to win the second Royal Rumble.
